21st Century Farmhouse
Imagine that it was possible teach someone who built simple, beautiful farmhouses across Nebraska 100 years ago about modern lifestyles and building materials. What kind of house would that person create today?
That question inspired the 21st Century Farmhouse design. A contemporary interpretation of the century-old farmhouses that still dot the landscape of northeast Nebraska, this new house draws inspiration from the hallmark characteristics of traditional Nebraska farmhouses: it is composed of a series of simple forms that appear as if they may have been added over time, it utilizes honest materials, it will be finished with a straightforward color scheme and it includes semi-enclosed outdoor "rooms" that are defined by the configuration of the house and outbuildings (in this case a detached garage).
The goal is to create a home that is tastefully-simple, well-composed, unpretentious and beautiful. Although it is historically-inspired, the 21st Century Farmhouse is confidently contemporary is its detailing and design. After all, it was designed in 2014 to suit the lifestyle and preferences of a specific family and to make the most of the views from their particular lot.
